1.2 Week – The Changes of Note

1.2 brings in a lot of changes, tweaks and fixes. Beyond the bigger issues that are easily identifiable I thought I’d alert you all to some of the minor changes that may have an affect on your game play. Important Note – 1.2 no longer allows you to change your name, so whatever it is at the time of rollout is what you will be stuck with (barring support involvement). Beyond that there are many changes, below I have separated some of them into relevant headings to better highlight how they may affect you. Managers Friendship is a two-way thing in this version. Firstly ‘Contacts’ have been renamed to the less corporate-sounding ‘Friends’, and the system now…

1.2 is just around the corner…

The long-anticipated 1.2 update for Football Manager Live is on its way: the wait will soon be over. It has been announced for 30 June 2009. Put it in your diaries, book the day off work, and get your teeth into the new features. One of the biggest headline changes this time is the new tactical interface (some call it the “wizard”) which, hopefully, will give users a whole new edge to their tactical play. With that in mind, what are the major changes on the cards, and how will they affect the way you play the game? We’ll go into more depth with the specific features over the next week or so in this column and in the podcasts. For now, however, he is a brief…

FML avaialble through STEAM

Those of you who registered your copies of Football Manager 2009 or Worldwide Soccer Manager 2009 through STEAM can now purchase the game through STEAM. I’m not sure how much of our readership this effects – only those who have so far not subscribed to the game can register through this service – but it does at least show SEGA’s willingness to make the game available through as many outlets as possible. Personally, I’m not a huge STEAM fan, but if it floats your boat, check out the current discussion on the matter at the official…

1.1.4 release date confirmed

18/5/09 is the scheduled launch date. And as usual, this will affect the servers, so just take that into account when working out your AI rights and auction finishes! Like we said earlier, it’s a very minor update which just irons some pretty minor creases. But, hey, it’s the last update of 1.1.x which is something special. Because it means 1.2 is another step closer! This is what Rob “Bertie” Barns-Graham has to say on the official forums: We’re pleased to announce that the anticipated Version 1.1.4 Update is planned to be released on Monday 18th May. There will be an extended period of downtime planned that could see the game unavailable from 6am until 4pm…

1.1.4 announced

A very, very minor update for everyone, just to tie up a few loose ends before the eventual release of 1.2. And, no, we still don’t know when SI are going to release that! Only a couple of little changes, mainly to do with bugs, including one that made the client crash when confirming stadium improvements after you had switched gameworlds. This is, according to SI and SEGA, the last update before 1.2. The next time we’ll be writing on this site about an update being implemented, it’s going to be the big one! It is such a minor update, it’s not even worth quoting Marc Duffy’s post on the official SI forums. Instead, here’s the link to the change list, which I…

New Beginner Gameworld Launching!

A new beginner gameworld named “Drurie” will open today at 11am according to Rob, the SEGA community officer. This is good news for all prospective FML players who want to start their careers in a brand spanking new world! Speculation on the official forums had been rife for a few days now about when exactly a new world would be launched. As seems to be current policy, however, SI and SEGA remained very tight lipped about the specifics until very close to the opening date. As with all things FML, don’t believe the myths about having to log on 4 seconds after launch to pick up the best players. All squads have some automatically selected players, so whether you join…

Gemmill Season Start Delay

The new beginner gameworld Gemmill has had its start delayed so that the world can fill up a bit more with new users. But don’t despair if you can’t wait to get going with your FML career! The season should start on 11/04/09 at around 20:00 (8pm) BST. Richard Tebbutt, SEGA’s lead mod writes: Hi all, Just to inform you we’ve decided to delay the season start in Gemmill by 3 days to allow the gameworld to fill up a bit more (and for those of you already in to get your squads in perfect shape!). The season will now start on Saturday 11th April at 20:00 with the Football Associations being locked down 24 hours prior to this (so make sure you’ve joined by…
