In the most recent development diary entry, Marc Duffy gives us an update on the final testing run of the 1.3 code. So far, there have been no major issues reported by the company’s QA department and it looks apparent that they’ll be able to meet the tentatively announced release date of Wednesday, September 30. Sports Interactive is also eagerly anticipating the “new” FML match engine which will be available to the team come next week – this means that the 1.3 ME will more or less be in sync with the first release of FM2010. Marc has also informed us that the base code for the next update 1.4 has been implemented in beta. Those managers participating in…
In a recently released video by Football Spy as part of the Daily Mirror, we get a short introduction to new features included in this year’s Football Manager 2010 release. This segment at just under four minutes showcases Miles Jacobson, Sports Interactive Studio Director as he shows the community his relative lack of skill at pool and among other things, how to properly hide a uni-brow when associating with the press. Highlighted features as announced on this video: New match engine with upgraded graphics and animations, including stadiums and crowd atmosphere. New tactics creator with more football-based instructions in addition to the classic…
On the newest installment of the official development diaries, Marc Duffy gives an update to the Football Manager Live community about the pending release of 1.3. The dev team currently is in the process of handing this version off to SEGA to begin the final testing process of the code. If everything goes according to plan, the update should take effect on: Wednesday, September 30. Be aware though that while the development team has made every effort to fix any major issues, it’s tough predict if any further problems crop up during the final testing phase – meaning the release date is still liable to be changed slightly. Other highlights noted on today’s…
Finally the roadmap of future features, and an estimate of when they can be expected, has been revealed. Over three parts Marc Duffy’s blogs talk about some of the new features that will be coming to FML throughout the coming months. If you haven’t read them yet they can be found on the official Football Manager Live Blog. All I’m trying to say is that with the roadmap and the timelines within 4-5 months we’ll have removed pretty much all of the key issues that have been widely reported on the forums. It’s up to us somehow to convince you the long term subscriber that this will be good enough to attract new people to the game (and keep them) and somehow tempt old…

Marc Duffy has announced on the official SI forums that 1.2.1 is in the final QA testing stage before release. As this patch has a third number, it is a minor update to tweak a few things and mop up some outstanding bug issues. 1.3 is currently well under way in beta testing, and that will be a far more substantial update. 1.2.1 however is looking to fix a few things. Notably the typing issues some users had been reporting and some tweaks to player progression and the way it is reported. The full change list is available here. And Marc’s post is stickied at the top of the forums: Marc Duffy Today I have pushed 1.2.1 to QA for final testing. The major fixes…
So, those post 1.2 plans for FML have been leaked via the phenomenon that is the interweb. Bertie BG, a.k.a Rob Barns-Graham (episode 5), a.k.a Full Metal Racket, a.k.a SEGA’s FML community officer has announced via Twitter that there is a free trial for FML. So, if you have any friends, get them over to the tryfml.com and get them to sign up. You will need credit card details in order to sign up for the 21-day trial, but if you don’t like the game you can cancel your subscription at any point during the trial period. This could see up to 200 new teams in established gameworlds, giving them a much needed injection of activity. Whether this is a good move for FML…
There have been a number of users reporting problems since the upgrade to 1.2. today. Essentially, it appears there are two problems. 1. The download server is down. 2. There are some compatability issues with older clients. If you are getting a message saying your client is incompatable with your gameworld, then you need to reinstall the client. Do this by: Uninstall FML Remove the FML programme data – in Vista type %appdata% into the “run” bar in the start menu. In XP go to C:\Documents and Settings\Application Data – the FML files should be in the Sports Interactive folder – delete this FML folder (not the Sports Interactive folder!) Reinstall FML by…
