On The Forums – 5 More FML Suggestions

We’re always looking to cover the most relevant topics on the minds of FML managers and in that spirit, now we’d like to highlight your thoughts about the game. Every week, we’ll be scouring the official forums for the best threads, brightest comments, heated debates and even the most laughable rants! In this edition: more of your suggested ideas, tweaks and improvements for Football Manager Live. It’s been much harder to find suggestions this week as I think that everyone’s fingers have been busy writing about 1.3! I did attempt to review the locked topics as per a Mark Burton comment on last week’s article but topics are getting locked far too quickly…

On The Forums – 5 FML Suggestions

We’re always looking to cover the most relevant topics on the minds of FML managers and in that spirit, now we’d like to highlight your thoughts about the game. Every week, we’ll be scouring the official forums for the best threads, brightest comments, heated debates and even the most laughable rants! In this edition: your suggested ideas, tweaks and improvements for Football Manager Live. Some ideas are small, some are large, some have been mentioned many times before. It’s mainly been a week of suggestions for stimulation of older game worlds – the effects of the pending 1.3 update, trial accounts envisaged to be failing, GW merging, and a few people…

Free Trials – A Closer Look

In response to the many calls in the forums for SI/Sega to address the concerns of dwindling numbers in older game worlds, an announcement was made at the time of the launch of the last new game world (Altobelli), keeping in mind many of the concerns raised in the past about new users in old worlds (see Protectionism). The big announcement by SI/Sega was the implementation of free trial accounts. The purpose of course is to boost numbers in older game worlds but also to break down the assumption by many that old worlds are too hard to start in. Alongside this announcement was the addition of several new (optional) football associations for all game worlds, these are…

Friends in 1.2

Contraversially, I think that one of the finer things about 1.2 is the friends feature. Although many are putting down the friends feature as being too much like facebook and is not adding anything extra to the game, there is more to friends than it looks. In fact I would say that the more you put into the interface, the more you will get out. Contacts in 1.1 is all about watching people sign in and out, adding people to chats and seeing match updates if you so wish. Stalking from afar. There was no incentive to having contacts, and not much point in adding everyone you like in your GW to your contacts list as it just got messy. In 1.2 the term contacts are now…

Dark Matter in the FML Universe

“I want you to share my excitement at the discoveries, past and present, which have revolutionized the way we think. From the Big Bang to black holes, from dark matter to a possible Big Crunch, our image of the universe today is full of strange sounding ideas, and remarkable truths. The story of how we arrived at this picture is the story of learning to understand what we see.” –STEPHEN HAWKING Hawking was of course talking about the real world, but a similar process of evolution takes place in the virtual worlds of Football Manager Live. From the launch of the first alpha world and throughout the initial beta phase FML has seen many changes already, but the…

Introduction – A Mod’s Life

So – welcome to my new column here on GW1.com! Some of you may know me as Super Bladesman, from the SI Games forums, while some of you may know me as Nik the Mod, from FML’s first ever blog, FML: A Moderator’s Life. A select few thousand of you may even have felt the fear of facing my Frecheville Blades side on the field of battle in one of the many Gameworlds I have been mediocre in, and hence may know by my real name… The original blog will still continue, so the regular readers of that can both rest easy. Over there I will be continuing to follow the progress of my hardworking Blades and that side of my FML life. Here, however, I will be talking more…
