This week, I want to show you how running friendly competitions in Football Manager Live can increase the interaction and competition between members of your gameworld. I am going to use to great examples from my own world, Nicholson. The Quick Cup This is a competition that I run, an eight-team knockout competition using a quick play format. Sounds quite dull, doesn’t it? Well, there’s a twist. The team which has won it the most times has their name put on the trophy. So instead of being called “The Quick Cup” you get “The Welsh Dragons Cup”. Now everyone has a reason to play, because the competition is well-advertised by me and the other two organisers,…
On The Forums A slightly calmer week on the forums, as the shock from the initial announcements on the future of football manager live and the reset coming next year begins to wear off. A number of more productive threads have cropped up, although a degree of the frustration remains, for the most part it’s all about questions and answers. Podcast Feedback Thread On the whole a generally positive reaction to last weeks Podcast with Marc Duffy and James Schall, this thread is open to a range of comments and any further questions people may have. Frequented by all those who participated on the podcast, any outstanding questions will be answered at the earliest…
This is the first in a series of articles aiming to be a tutorial on how to increase the interactivity of the users within your current gameworld. To prepare for this I asked around my world, Nicholson, for ways in which various managers like to interact with each other. Before I start, I would like to use a favourite FMLive relative phrase that I have heard many, many times. “You only get out of your gameworld what you put in” Every time I hear this I feel it is very, very true. When I started playing back at the start of the Saunders Game World I stayed quiet, not really knowing what to do, or who to talk to. I stumbled around for two seasons before scampering…
On The Forums No prize for guessing what the main focus of the forums has been this week, between the main two threads about the announcement there have been some others though. The Future of FML (Part 1) As expected this one is all about the first part of the announcement, although a very large proportion of the replies are more focussed on where’s part two. Still a number of good questions arose about the new game world types. Rather than trying to wade through that though I’d recommend going straight to the Q&A thread posted in response. Q & A – Returning Stars The Future of FML (Part 2) Part 2 of the big announcement created a bit of a stir it…
Now that the information is out there and people are considering all the ramifications of the two part announcement on the future of the game, I though it would be worth sharing the initial reactions of many of the people who provide content for gameworldone.com How closely do we reflect the community’s views? Mark Burton Having written a number of articles on how I thought the future of the game should go I was relieved more than anything to see Sports Interactive and Sega take the plunge and commit whole heartedly to the future of the game, even though it may cost them in the short term. I can certainly understand the frustration of many who have played for a…
First up on the official Football Manager Live forums is the news that Craig ‘Tweej’ MacLean’s badge shop has reopened! Craig explains: “I will be doing requests on a first come first served basis but priority will be given to people who have donated in advance. You can do this by using the link from my blog page where I will be also be posting finished badges and updating you on my progress in Uni fund.” So if you want a good badge and a creative person to go to University, get your new badge straight away! We also saw on the forums a lot of the regular threads complaining about the game, and concern for dead gameworlds. However, one in particular caught my…
