Football Manager Live Interactive Web Broadcast

On the heels of last month’s highly successful release of their latest Football Manager eBook – FM-Britain (in conjunction with Game World One) proudly present our first live webinar broadcast. Many of you might have attended the first two live webcasts over on FM-Britain’s UStream channel in February/March. Everyone who joined in had a blast – and I did as well! Now then, you know the technical capabilities and features on a free broadcast service are somewhat limited, which greatly hampered many of the cool, interactive elements we wanted to include in our webcasts. You also know we were heavily hyping our intention of upgrading our platform to an enterprise…

Gaming Communities in The New Age of Social Media and Democratization of Search

Recently, I was speaking to Caleyjag, the founder of one of the top Football Manager fan sites on the web and also, quite likely one of the most innovative members of the FM community for many years. On FMFanboys, he made a statement that: “the community just isn’t needed as much as it once was.” All respect in the world to him, but I think he couldn’t be more wrong. The community is even more important now than ever before with the immense power that independently operated fan sites have in this new digital age. Type in “Football Manager 2010″ into Google and see what comes up. Realize this phrase is estimated at 1.2 million individual searches a month. Add…

On The Forums – 1.4, Youth Academies and More …

On The Forums There’s a definite sense of expectation spreading throughout the Football Manager Live gaming arena of late, and the official forums are no exception. With the lure of 1.4 not too far away and a growing sense of approval for some of the ideas being discussed in the developers’ forum, the sense of dread felt by many about the reset has changed to a renewed enthusiasm. The scheduled restart in March this year is now something people are looking forward to rather than something they fight against. FML Version 1.4 Announced The planned release date for the 1.4 update into the current live gameworlds was announced last week: “We plan to release Version…

On The Forums: World on Fire

Not another sensationalist GameWorldOne article? Well no, not quite. I spent Saturday sweltering in 48 degree heat in a barren but beautiful part of my country, and fires have raged since then in many areas – the picture attached to this article was taken near a small town in the hills behind my house. I am well aware of the freezing conditions many of you living in the UK and other parts of Europe are experiencing in your winter. But it’s Summer here and although it’s only just begun we are already getting reminders of last years tragic bushfires that took so many lives. I would like to dedicate this article to those who have to deal with those tragedies year…

On The Forums: Holiday Edition

On the Forums The wrapping paper should be on it’s way to the recyclers by now, and the festivities of New Year’s Eve have receded to a dull ache in the forehead, the holiday period is all but over (although many will be waiting with trepidation for the credit card bill to arrive). So what has happened on the official forums and around the traps over the last week or so? Oliver and Paul Collyer’s – M.B.E.s “I am honoured to be able to announce that Oliver & Paul Collyer, founders of Sports Interactive, originators of the ideas that have become Football Manager and Football Manager Live, and all round good blokes, have been awarded M.B.E.’s in the New…

On the Forums: Christmas or Xmas?

On the Forums With Christmas just a few days away the mood of the forums has been much healthier this week, or is it because skill points are being saved? Whatever the reason the official forums have been a much happier place this week, the threads are more constructive and glimpses of humour begin to return between the participants. 12 Days of Xmas The official reason of this thread was of course the announcement about the in game competitions planned throughout the gameworlds in the lead up to Christmas Day. Political correctness stepped in though and with that a mini debate on whether it should be called Christmas or Xmas. Club Reputation and Ranking Change An…
