SURVEY: What are your initial impressions of FML v1.3?

The big day has finally come and passed… version 1.3 of Football Manager Live is fully updated throughout all the game worlds and ready for the playing community to digest. It was a hectic day on the official forums, but we’d like to express our thanks to Bertie BG, Robson Brown (Rb) and everyone else involved with keeping users informed there with the latest up-to-the-minute news on the upgrade.

For those that are still having problems: be aware that the server that handles auto-patching the FM Live client is being hit very hard with download requests from eager managers. Please be patient with the process and don’t stress out over it! You can continually get updates on the status on this forum thread and post any other difficulties you’re experiencing there. After exhausting all other options, you should always feel free to contact Sega support with any issues and they’ll take care of you in the quickest manner possible.

Now that everyone has spent a day absorbing all the new features in Football Manager Live, we’d like to hear your initial impressions.

  • Have you played the CPU clubs to test out new tactics and trial players?
  • Who has set up specific match plans and seen them enacted during your games?
  • What are the biggest changes you’ve seen in how the match engine looks in comparison to before?

  • My initial impressions of 1.3 are favourable but there are areas that could be improved:

    Match plans - doesn't seem to cope with players getting sent off at all. Twice I have watched my DC get sent off (yes, I know!!) and the match plan does not attempt to make a substitution, or reshuffle the team, to fill the void.

    Still with match plans, there is no easy way to have different match plans for different competitions. I would want to use different match plans for senior league and senior cup matches. Whilst I can set up different squads to do this, in the end I will quickly use my seven squads.

    CPU opponents - just the one thing, where are the youth teams to play against?!!
  • I tried a new formation v a 1* CPU side and it broke it as I only won 1-0. They are fun to play though and give us a good game and an opponent who can challenge us in different ways dependent on their skill level and ability.

    Match plans are great as they can also be used in match v a human when you need to make a cup of tea etc. You have total flexbility over how your team plays and what it does and when regardless of scenario.
    I've already set up Match Plans for all my current cup games, xfa prem games and all matches for the next five days so I know my side will play the way I want them to now.

    As for new ME we don't have that in Shearer yet but look forward to it.
